Painting, drawing, and sculpting are about seeing the world around us. When facing a blank surface or a fresh block of clay, one is invited to participate in and engage with life.

Unlike the instant gratification that flows from our mobile devices, patience and love are required to discover the unexpected wonder and beauty that can be found in simple things made by hand.

I am taken by the way sunlight hits a tea pot or how a person moves their hand. These things are authentic and narrative. They reflect and challenge my own views of the world and of myself. When I am engaged in the act of painting, drawing, and sculpting, I am humbled by how little I know and how small I am in the world. From humility comes my determination to listen more carefully and look even closer to uncover magic.
